Aparatus descriptions
Silks /Tissu
Ahh the ever popular silks also known as tissu... This has been an art form that has taken off and is quite the hero image for modern circus. Silks consist of a long piece of strong fabric that is doubled over and hung so that you have two pieces to climb and weave around in. Silks are an amazing way to build your core strength up but the real beauty is its a brain tease working out how to wrap and unwrap the yards of fabric in an attempt to defy gravity! |
Adults Aerial Hoop (Lyra)
These apparatus take you into the air and make it a whole lot of fun when you get there! The lyra or more commonly known world wide as the aerial hoop, is a simple sphere when its alone, but as soon as you get on it you create a whole new picture. We start always with fundamentals and take you step by step. The beauty of this apparatus is we can lower it to inches off the ground when you begin, and then raise it up higher as you get stronger. So you can participate no matter what level your at! Static Cloudswing / Swinging Cloudswing A soft rope that allows you to fly like a bird and allows you to create movements in a unique way. Its soft like tissu, ropey like trapeze and a wider grip like the lyra.. this apparatus covers a lot of ranges in movement. You weave, wrap, spin and swing with this apparatus. Its softer than trapeze as there is no bar but still allows you to creat similar moves. This apparatus when swinging, gives you the toned legs and butt that Jane Fonda only dreams about! |
Trapeze The trapeze is one of the older and more traditional apparatus for 'Circus' as we know it.. It consists of two ropes attached to a bar that you can hang off, stand on, climb up, weave and roll around and all sorts! A gentleman called Jules Leotard is responsible for defying audiences first in1859 with the audience wowing 'flying trapeze'. The art form has expanded and developed an offshoot with static trapeze (meaning your not 10 metres up hurtling towards a another person catching you) and a whole world of fun was opened up. Learn to get up onto it and figure out what all the craze is about! Hula Hoops
Ok so we have all done the hula hoop head bang as a child haven't we? Its time to get back in the hoop and get moving... besides being a creative and co-ordination improving skill, its a fantastic warm up for any sport, gets your heart rate up a little and encourages your joints to keep lubricated and healthy. |
