OPEN TRAINING
What is it?
Open training is a self guided training session that enables students to practice what they have learnt in their class time.
When is it held and for how long?
Kids- 1 hour on wednesdays 5:15 -6:15pm
Adults 1hour- 1.5 hours Wednesdays 7:30-8:30/9pm (depending on if it's summer or winter 😂)
Who can attend?
Kids from level 2 upwards. (the website had said from 12yrs onwards but we are adjusting that to skill level more than age based.)
Adults who have been training aerials for 4 terms consecutively if they are in level 1 and all adults in the level 2 and 3 class.
Why take part?
To solidify what you learn in your current class and more training equals greater strength and skill. Open training also forsters the creativity and innovation that comes from 'playing'. We not only need this space for ourselves as kids, but it is so good for us adults too! In our busy lives we often forget to look after our own growth. Being self guided gives you the opportunity to try skills at your own pace and re do the tricks you personally want to practice and to do as little or as much as you feel on the day. Training more than once a week can mean the difference between plateauing in your aerials or actually making headway with strength and retaining skills!
Plus there is rarely a session where we are not laughing.. it is a great stress release and training with others helps keep you motivated! (and isn't that needed this winter!😳)
Why can't beginners partake?
Aerials is not your regular activity and with it comes the associated risks by simply being in the air! First and foremost we need to know our students are safe.
Being self guided means that you need to know enough 'conditioning skills and basic skills' to be able to actually make use of the aparatuses. For the times when we have let people in early who have insisted, they have attended and been stumped because they lack the knowledge required and it becomes unsatisfying anyway. So trust our experience that we know what we are talking about and trust that our whole purpose here is to teach aerials!
How much does it cost?
Kids $7.20 per session (paid for by the term only of 9 weeks- this ensures we can retain the instuctor for the term)
Adults $10 per session (currently still dop in but that will change in term 4 potentially)
So there you have it! For those wanting to do more than one session per week but there is no second class for you to attend, this is your chance to get your circus needs met!
